ASTA Response to New York State Feedback Request on the Proposed Recall Action Level for Lead in Spices

ASTA issued comments to the Reproductive and Cancer Hazard Assesment Branch Office of California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assesment (OEHHA) in response to its request for information on the development of standards for the naturally occurring level of lead in candies containing tamarind or chili.

This document is a letter sent to New York State Director of Food Safety and Inspection, Dan McCarthy, outlining outstanding questions on the status and scope of New York's proposed recall action levels for heavy metals in spices, as well as expressing concerns on the proposed levels.
