ASTA Comments on NOSB Recommendations for Residue Testing
In May 2026, ASTA submitted comments in alignment with the Organic Trade Association on a proposal from the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) addressing residue investigations in global supply chains. The comments advocate for establishing a practical pathway to address compliance issues related to trace pesticide residues in organic commodities where no established tolerances exist. ASTA issued comments to the National Organic Standards Board in April 2021 on the proposed Handling Subcommittee's recommendations to the NOSB. Comments support the continued listing of silicon dioxide on the National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances and provide additional information to answer the NOSB Handling Subcommittee's questions.
