ASTA Comments on USDA National Organic Program, Sunset Review
ASTA issued comments to the National Organic Program in August 2005 and in response to the "National Organic Program, Sunset Review" notice, urging the National Organic Standards Board to renew the exemptions allowing the use of certain nonorganic items as ingredients in processed products labeled as “organic” or made with organic.

ASTA Comments on NOSB Recommendations for Residue Testing
In May 2026, ASTA submitted comments in alignment with the Organic Trade Association on a proposal from the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) addressing residue investigations in global supply chains. The comments advocate for establishing a practical pathway to address compliance issues related to trace pesticide residues in organic commodities where no established tolerances exist. ASTA also requested a comparable approach for certain heat-formed or process-formed compounds
ASTA Letter to Congress on National Uniformity for Food Act
ASTA sent a letter to Michael Enzi, Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee, in May 2006 expressing support for the "National Uniformity for Food Act of 2006 and urging to make its passage a top priority.
