A Closer Look at FDA’s Guidance on Food Allergens Webinar
Presented on Friday, July 26, 2024. Undeclared allergens continue to be the leading cause of food recalls, and allergen control programs are commonly cited in 483s and Warning Letters. In the fall of 2023, the FDA released Chapter 11 of FDA’s Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food draft guidance, which addresses the FDA’s current thinking on how to develop and implement robust allergen preventive controls and cGMP programs. Additionally, in the fall of 2022, the FDA issued two guidance documents about food allergen labeling, including notable recommendations on allergen advisory labeling issues. In this webinar, Maile Gradison and Anneke Altieri will offer a deep dive into these guidance documents and share insight into the FDA’s expectations for allergen management programs, including label content and controls, supplier verification activities, advisory allergen labeling, and cGMPs.
