ASTA signed onto a coalition comment letter to the Food and Drug Administration(FDA) in September 2022 on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA or agency) proposed rule, Revocation of Methods of Analysis Regulation, revoking the methods of analysis regulation, § 2.19 (21 CFR 2.19), which describes an FDA policy to use certain methods of analysis to support FDA enforcement, as needed, and when the method of analysis is not prescribed in a regulation.
ASTA Feedback to GAO on FDA Implementation of Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
ASTA was contacted in August 2024 by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), which was seeking to obtain perspectives from various food safety stakeholders on FDA's implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). In collaboration with ASTA members and the association's General Counsel, ASTA provided the following feedback on the Preventive Controls for Human Foods Rule (Section 103), Sanitary Transportation Rule (Section 111), and the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (Section 301).
