POSITION TITLE:  The Director of Sales 

POSITION OBJECTIVE 

The Director of Sales leads the activities of the Sales & Customer Service Department with primary responsibility for the United States market and potential future scope, including Canada and Latin America. The role reports to the Sabater USA president with a solid line and a dotted line to the Global Commercial Director, ensuring strong alignment between regional commercial execution and global commercial strategy. The position is responsible for driving revenue growth, executing the company’s commercial strategy at the regional level, and ensuring customer development and retention.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Commercial Strategy & Growth
    Develop and execute the U.S. commercial strategy, targeting over 10% annual revenue growth and identifying key new business opportunities in food and nutraceutical industries.
  • Market Intelligence & Business Development
    Monitor market dynamics, competitive landscape and customer needs to identify growth opportunities and support strategic commercial decision-making.
  • Sales Leadership
    Build, lead and develop a high-performing sales and customer service organization through mentoring, coaching and performance management.
  • Strategic Accounts & Customer Relationships
    Lead negotiations and maintain strong relationships with key strategic customers and high-value accounts.
  • Commercial Planning & Performance Management
    Develop and execute regional commercial plans, sales targets and budgets, monitoring performance through regular reporting and forecasting to the Global Commercial Director.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
    Collaborate with internal departments (R&D, Supply Chain, Quality and Production) and executive leadership to ensure alignment between commercial strategy and operational capabilities. 
  • Market Representation
    Represent the company in key industry events, trade shows and professional forums to strengthen the company’s market presence and strategic relationships.
    Maintain strong knowledge of the company’s product portfolio and achieve agreed commercial objectives and KPIs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
     

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop the regional sales and customer service organization, ensuring alignment with the company’s commercial objectives and global strategy.
  • Set clear performance expectations, establish KPIs and monitor results to ensure accountability and continuous improvement across the team.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and professional development to direct reports, fostering a high-performance and customer-focused culture.
  • Participate in hiring, performance evaluation and organizational development decisions for the commercial team.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing or a related field. An MBA or equivalent graduate degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive commercial experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Experience selling food ingredients or manufacturing solutions to US distributors, co-packers or food manufacturers.
  • Strong knowledge of the U.S. food industry market, customers and distribution channels.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to build and develop high-performing commercial teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute commercial strategies and business growth initiatives.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to analyze performance, identify opportunities and drive profitable growth.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite or similar business tools.
  • Highly results-driven, with strong leadership presence, strategic mindset and customer-oriented approach.

Travel
This position may require domestic travel within the United States for customer visits, industry events and trade shows throughout the year. International travel may be required from time to time in connection with global commercial activities.
