The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) approved the proposed human foods program reorganization, targeting implementation on October 1.

In the past week, FDA issued two public health alerts due to elevated lead in ground cinnamon sold by ten companies, and several companies have voluntarily issued recalls related to lead contamination in cinnamon products.
