ASTA Petition Proposing Import Tolerances for Metalaxyl for Black Pepper
In October 2019, ASTA submitted a petition to EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs to establish an import tolerance for metalaxyl in/on black pepper at 1ppm. The tolerance was established on September 24, 2021.

The alliance emphasizes a shared goal of protecting public health, while highlighting the importance of pesticides and biotechnology in ensuring a safe, affordable food supply. Additionally, the letter notes the effectiveness of established food ingredient safety regulations, such as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS).
