This was a presentation given as part of a panel and discussion on Emerging Chemical Contaminants during the 2023 Regulatory Workshop held in Washington, DC, on October 18, 2023. It included new and evolving challenges related to chemical contaminants emerging in the spice industry. Panelists discussed issues related to a variety of chemical contaminants, including per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), mycotoxins, mineral oil-saturated hydrocarbons, and aromatic hydrocarbons (MOSH/MOAH), opiate alkaloids, pesticides, and how the spice industry can work to address them. This presentation on mycotoxins was provided by Anthony Adeuya, FDA.
